They never told you this part.
They told you sex was dangerous.
They told you it was tempting.
They told you it could ruin your life.
But no one ever sat you down, looked you in the eyes, and answered the question that’s been quietly haunting your soul…
Why did God make it feel so good?
Not just good… but powerful.
Magnetic. Consuming. Almost sacred.
And if God is holy… why would He design something that can pull people so far from Him?
You’ve felt that tension, haven’t you?
That moment where desire doesn’t just live in your body… it speaks to your identity.
Where it feels like more than physical—it feels spiritual.
Because it is.
In the beginning, before shame ever entered the human story, before hiding, before guilt, before secrecy… there was a man and a woman standing fully seen.
“וַיִּהְיוּ שְׁנֵיהֶם עֲרוּמִּים… וְלֹא יִתְבֹּשָׁשׁוּ”
(Vayihyu sheneihem arummim… velo yitboshashu)
“And the two were naked… and were not ashamed.” (Genesis 2:25)
No shame.
No distortion.
No confusion.
Just connection.
The Hebrew word used here for “one flesh” in Genesis 2:24 is “אֶחָד” (echad).
It doesn’t just mean unity—it means a fused, inseparable oneness. The same word used when Scripture says, “The Lord is one.”
Sex was never just physical.
It was designed as a living echo of divine unity.
God didn’t accidentally make it feel good.
He designed it that way on purpose.
Because pleasure was never the enemy.
Separation was.
The problem was never the intensity of desire…
it was what happened when that desire got disconnected from its design.
When sin entered, everything shifted.
Not the goodness of sex… but the direction of it.
What was once a sacred expression of covenant became a search for validation.
What was once intimacy became escape.
What was once union became consumption.
The Greek word used in the New Testament for sexual immorality is “πορνεία” (porneia).
It doesn’t just mean “sex outside marriage.”
It means disordered desire—desire that has lost its original alignment with God.
And that’s where the ache comes from.
Because deep down… your body remembers something your lifestyle might have forgotten.
That this was supposed to mean more.
That it was supposed to hold weight.
Covenant. Safety. Total knowing.
That it was never meant to leave you emptier afterward.
Be honest.
How many times did it feel powerful in the moment…
but quiet felt louder afterward?
How many times did you chase connection…
but ended up feeling more alone?
That’s not because sex is evil.
It’s because something sacred was used outside of its covering.
And your soul felt it.
Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 6:16,
“Or do you not know that he who is joined to a prostitute becomes one body with her? For, as it is written, ‘The two will become one flesh.’”
The Greek word for “joined” is “κολλώμενος” (kollōmenos).
It means glued together. Bonded. Permanently affected.
Your body isn’t just reacting.
It’s remembering.
That’s why it feels so deep.
That’s why it lingers.
That’s why it can’t just be casual—no matter how much culture tries to convince you otherwise.
And here’s where everything changes.
Because if sex was designed to reflect unity…
then misuse doesn’t destroy its meaning—it distorts it.
Which means restoration is possible.
Through Jesus Christ.
Because Jesus didn’t come just to forgive your actions…
He came to restore your design.
The same God who made sex feel powerful
is the same God who can redeem every place it has been misused in your life.
Nothing is too broken.
Nothing is too far gone.
From scandal…
to grace.
That’s the Gospel.
And maybe this is the moment where something in you stops running…
and starts returning.
Comment “no more hiding” if this exposed something you’ve been burying.
Comment “Christ is still healing me” if you know God is not finished with your story.
Be honest… this hit deeper than you expected.
And don’t keep this to yourself.
There’s someone on your friends list silently struggling with this exact question.
Someone drowning in confusion, shame, or compromise.
