π “Thy way, O God, is in the sanctuary.” β Psalm 77:13
The sanctuary message is one of the most beautiful and Christ-centered truths in Scripture. Sadly, you will not hear it in the majority of churches today because Satan, through that “mother of harlots,” the Papal Church of Rome, has cast it down, trampled upon it, and turned the masses away from this amazing Bible truth. But God has restored this precious message through His remnant church.
ποΈ GOD’S PLAN IN THE SANCTUARY
π Exodus chapters 25β30 describe the earthly sanctuary:
π₯ The Outer Court contained the Altar of Burnt Offering and the Laver of Water.
π―οΈ The Holy Place contained the Table of Shewbread, the Seven-Branched Candlestick, and the Altar of Incense.
π The Most Holy Place contained the Ark of the Covenant, which held the Ten Commandments.
Many Christians see the sanctuary and its furniture as merely part of the Old Testament ceremonial system. Yet they miss the profound spiritual truths and God’s beautiful plan of salvation revealed through every part of it.
βοΈ Every Part Points to Jesus
π₯ The Outer Court
π The Altar of Burnt Offering represents Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God, who died on the cross as the perfect sacrifice for our sins.
π§ The Laver of Water represents baptism by full immersion (Matthew 3:16), symbolizing cleansing and the new birth.
π―οΈ The Holy Place
π The Table of Shewbread represents the Word of God, the true Bread of Life (Matthew 4:4; John 6:35).
π‘ The Seven-Branched Candlestick represents the light of Christ shining through His people as they witness to the world (Matthew 5:16).
π The Altar of Incense represents the prayers of believers ascending to God through Jesus Christ (Revelation 8:3β4).
π The Most Holy Place
π The Ark of the Covenant contains God’s holy moral lawβthe Ten Commandments, showing that God desires to write His law upon the hearts of His faithful people.
βοΈ Christ Is the Center of the Sanctuary
π Note: If you draw the sanctuary and connect the furniture in order, the pattern forms the shape of a cross.
This is no accident.
Jesus Christ is at the very center of the sanctuary message. He alone is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, and only through Him can anyone come to the Father (John 14:6).
π The Christian Walk Revealed
The sanctuary beautifully illustrates the believer’s journey:
β
We confess our sins over the Lamb, accepting Christ’s sacrifice.
β
We are baptized, symbolizing cleansing through the Laver of Water.
β
We feed daily upon the Word of God, represented by the Table of Shewbread.
β
Our prayers continually rise before God through Christ, represented by the Altar of Incense.
β
We become lights in a dark world, represented by the Seven-Branched Candlestick.
β
God writes His law upon our hearts, leading us to joyful obedience, represented by the Ark of the Covenant.
β€οΈ The Sanctuary Reveals God’s Amazing Grace
The sanctuary services taught humanity:
βοΈ The seriousness of sin.
π©Έ The necessity of Christ’s sacrifice.
π Christ’s ministry as our heavenly High Priest in the true sanctuary (Hebrews 8:2).
π God’s complete plan to restore fallen humanity.
Jesus is:
π Our Sacrifice.
π§ Our Living Water.
π Our Bread of Life.
π‘ Our Light.
π Our Mediator.
π Our High Priest.
Everything in the sanctuary points directly to Him.
πΆ Israel’s Journey Also Reveals the Plan
God illustrated the same plan during Israel’s Exodus:
π Passover Lamb (Exodus 12) β Christ, our Sacrifice.
π Red Sea Crossing (Exodus 14) β Baptism.
π Manna from Heaven (Exodus 16) β God’s Word, the Bread of Life.
π‘ Holy Nation and Witness (Exodus 19) β The Candlestick.
π Preparation Before God’s Presence (Exodus 19) β Prayer.
π Receiving the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20) β The Ark of the Covenant.
Notice that these events follow the very same order as the sanctuary furniture.
β¨ God’s plan of salvation is consistent from Genesis to Revelation.
π A Final Appeal
The sanctuary is not merely ancient historyβit is the Gospel illustrated.
It reveals Jesus Christ as the only way back to the Father and beautifully unfolds God’s loving plan to save sinners.
π “Thy way, O God, is in the sanctuary.” β Psalm 77:13
May we study this wonderful message, follow Jesus by faith, and allow Him to lead us through His perfect plan of salvation until He returns in glory.
