There has been a growing conversation in our culture surrounding UFOs, aliens, extraterrestrials, and unexplained phenomena. As believers, it is important that we respond neither with fear nor fascination, but with biblical discernment, spiritual maturity, and a Christ-centered worldview.
I want to offer some pastoral and theological guidance on this subject for those who look to me as a spiritual father, shepherd, and voice of stability in a very noisy hour.
1. I do not believe the Bible teaches extraterrestrial civilizations visiting earth.
The Scriptures never present “aliens” or advanced beings from distant planets as part of God’s revealed plan for humanity. The biblical narrative is centered on God, mankind, redemption, covenant, and the Kingdom of God unfolding through Jesus Christ.
When the Bible addresses supernatural activity, it consistently frames it through a spiritual lens:
• Angels
• Fallen angels
• Demonic powers
• Principalities and powers
• Deception
• Lying signs and wonders
Ephesians 6:12 reminds us:
“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age…”
The Bible is clear that there is a spiritual realm, and that deception is real.
2. I do believe demonic powers can manifest through deception and counterfeit experiences.
Scripture teaches that Satan is capable of masquerading and deceiving.
2 Corinthians 11:14 says:
“And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light.”
That means not every supernatural experience is divine. Not every manifestation is holy. Not every sign should be trusted.
As culture becomes increasingly spiritually hungry while simultaneously rejecting biblical authority, deception becomes easier. Humanity begins searching for transcendence apart from Christ.
What previous generations may have interpreted as false gods, spirits, or mystical entities, modern culture may now interpret through the language of “aliens,” “interdimensional beings,” or cosmic intelligence.
As believers, we must test every spirit and remain anchored in Scripture.
3. A mature Christian response avoids extremes.
There are two dangerous ditches right now:
The first is hyper-sensationalism.
Everything becomes:
• conspiracies
• hidden codes
• Nephilim speculation
• portals
• endless theories
• obsession with darkness
This often creates fear, distraction, confusion, and unhealthy fascination.
The second extreme is naturalistic unbelief.
This position dismisses the supernatural entirely and denies the reality of spiritual warfare, demons, angels, and counterfeit spiritual activity.
Both extremes are unbiblical.
The mature believer walks in discernment, not fear.
Awareness, not obsession.
Sobriety, not sensationalism.
4. The real issue is not aliens. The real issue is worldview displacement.
Our culture is searching for meaning, identity, transcendence, revelation, and purpose while increasingly disconnecting itself from biblical truth.
When people reject:
• the authority of Scripture
• the reality of God
• creation
• Christ
• redemption
they will inevitably search for answers elsewhere.
Much of the modern fascination with extraterrestrials is rooted in humanity’s desire for transcendence without submission to God.
But the answer to humanity’s longing is not hidden civilizations in the cosmos.
The answer is Jesus Christ.
5. Our focus must remain on Jesus, not darkness.
The New Testament never teaches believers to become obsessed with darkness, demons, or speculative mysteries.
Our assignment is to:
• walk in truth
• remain sober-minded
• test every spirit
• stay grounded in Scripture
• keep our eyes fixed on Christ
Colossians tells us that Jesus disarmed principalities and powers and triumphed over them openly.
We are not a fearful people.
We are not gullible people.
And we are not people driven by internet speculation.
We are people of truth, discernment, wisdom, and spiritual authority.
6. Here is the North Star for believers in this conversation.
As Christians, we do not build our worldview from social media theories, cultural fascination, internet speculation, or sensational narratives.
We build our worldview from the Word of God.
The Bible does not teach extraterrestrial civilizations interacting with humanity, but it absolutely teaches that spiritual deception exists and that discernment is necessary in the last days.
So remain grounded.
Remain biblical.
Remain discerning.
Remain peaceful.
And above all, keep Jesus Christ central.
In an hour filled with confusion, fascination, and noise, the Church must remain steady, sober, anchored, and full of light.
