Growing up in religion, I was taught the story of Adam and Eve
as a warning.
Do not try to be like God.
Do not reach.
Do not identify too closely.
Do not cross that line.
To be like God was framed as heresy.
As pride.
As stealing God’s glory.
But when you actually read Scripture
and understand who God is,
the story collapses.
And it doesn’t only collapse
through a fresh lens of Scripture —
it is completely dismantled
when you follow the teachings of Jesus
and experience what He said you would.
MADE IN THE IMAGE — NOT ALMOST
Scripture does not say we were made near God.
It says we were made in the image of Elohim.
Not a lesser copy.
Not a fallen knockoff.
The image.
The intention was never distance.
The intention was expression.
To walk as image-bearers.
To express love.
To reveal God in form.
If love is the goal of the instruction,
how could we not want to be like God?
The only way you wouldn’t
is if you were taught
that God is not love.
HOW DOUBLE-MINDEDNESS WAS CREATED
Religion taught us:
God is love.
And God tortures.
God is mercy.
And God is wrathful vengeance.
Hold those two ideas together
and you fracture the soul.
Scripture says a double-minded person
is unstable in all their ways.
And then we wonder
why Christianity is fractured.
A system grounded in unity and love
does not splinter
into tens of thousands of denominations.
Instability produces division.
LOOK AT THE FRUIT
Instead of emotional declarations —
“I’m a Christian, therefore I’m right” —
look at the fruit.
Is it love?
Is it unity?
Is it wholeness?
Is it restoration?
Or is it fear,
control,
judgment,
and exclusion?
Jesus said you would know by fruit.
Not by labels.
WHY I FOLLOW CHRIST, NOT A RELIGION
I don’t follow Christianity.
I follow Christ.
I am not loyal to a system.
I am loyal to love.
My goal is not to recruit you
into a structure.
My goal is to invite you
into your own experience
with the God who lives within you.
THE INNER BARRIER RELIGION BUILT
Many were taught from childhood:
Your heart is wicked.
You cannot trust yourself.
You need an external authority
to know God.
The Bible.
The church.
A leader.
A system.
Yet Scripture says:
You are only separate in your mind.
Religion trains the carnal mind,
then keeps people from the doorway.
They do not enter themselves.
And they keep others from entering.
Exactly what Jesus said of the Pharisees.
WHY THOSE WHO GO WITHIN ARE OSTRACIZED
When people actually follow Jesus
and go within,
they are labeled dangerous.
Because they know God does not fail.
They know God is not absent.
They know God is not selective.
They know the breath in every human
is the breath of God.
The energy sustaining your life
is God.
To deny that
is to remain cut off —
not from God,
but from awareness.
OUTSIDE-IN VS INSIDE-OUT
Religion conforms from the outside in.
The Spirit transforms from the inside out.
You can read endlessly.
Attend faithfully.
Tithe consistently.
But if you are not investing
in the temple within —
the true sanctuary,
the chief cornerstone —
then you are performing externals
while ignoring the instruction.
Knowing His name
is not the same as knowing Him.
Reading about Christ
is not the same as embodying Him.
THE INVITATION
The Kingdom is not accessed
by proximity to religion.
It is revealed
by turning within.
Not to inflate the ego.
But to dissolve
the illusion of separation.
To remember who you are.
And to live from love.
You were never meant to imitate God from a distance.
You were meant to express God from within.
When love is revealed, separation dissolves —
and the image remembers itself.
