𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗠𝗨𝗦𝗧 𝗜 𝗗𝗢 𝗧𝗢 𝗕𝗘 𝗦𝗔𝗩𝗘𝗗?

This is not a casual question.
It is the question that decides eternity.

When the jailer asked the Apostles, “What must I do to be saved?” he was not asking for a slogan, a feeling, or a one-time decision. He was asking how a sinful man can be reconciled to a holy God and inherit eternal life.

Christ Himself answers this question—not modern preachers, not private opinions, not man-made shortcuts.

𝟭. 𝗦𝗮𝗹𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗚𝗼𝗱 𝗔𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗲 — 𝗕𝘆 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲

First, we must be absolutely clear:

👉 No one saves himself.
👉 Salvation is impossible without the grace of God.

Man is wounded by original sin and personal sin. Without divine grace, we cannot even begin to please God. Salvation is a gift, not a human achievement.

But a gift can be received or rejected.

Grace does not destroy free will—it heals and elevates it.

𝟮. 𝗙𝗮𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗜𝘀 𝗡𝗲𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗿𝘆 — 𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗙𝗮𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗲

Faith is the beginning of salvation.

We must:

Believe in God
Believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God
Believe what He taught and commanded

But Scripture is crystal clear:

“Faith, if it has not works, is dead.”

A dead faith cannot save.

True faith is living, obedient, and active in charity.
It is not mere belief—it is trust that submits to Christ.

𝟯. 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗜𝘀 𝗥𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱 — 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗧𝘂𝗿𝗻 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗦𝗶𝗻

No repentance = no salvation.

Our Lord preached from the very beginning:

“Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.”

To be saved, a soul must:

Acknowledge sin
Hate sin because it offends God
Resolve to abandon sin

This includes mortal sin, which kills the life of grace in the soul.
A soul that refuses to repent cannot be saved, no matter how loudly it claims faith.

𝟰. 𝗕𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗺 𝗜𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗢𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗘𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗦𝗮𝗹𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

Christ did not leave salvation vague or invisible.

He instituted sacraments—real means of grace.

He said plainly:

“Unless a man be born again of water and the Holy Ghost, he cannot enter the Kingdom of God.”

Baptism:

Washes away original and personal sin
Makes us children of God
Incorporates us into the Church Christ founded

This is not symbolism. It is rebirth.

𝟱. 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗢𝗯𝗲𝘆 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗞𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗛𝗶𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀

Our Lord did not say:

“Believe only.”

He said:

“If thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.”

Salvation requires:

Love of God
Love of neighbor
Obedience to God’s law

Grace enables obedience—but obedience is still required.

A life of deliberate disobedience is a rejection of Christ, no matter how religious it looks.

𝟲. 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗨𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗹 𝗗𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵 𝗜𝘀 𝗡𝗲𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗿𝘆

Salvation is not a one-time moment.
It is a lifelong journey.

Scripture warns us repeatedly:

We can fall away
We can lose grace
We must endure to the end

Final perseverance itself is a gift of God, but one we must pray for, cooperate with, and never presume upon.

𝟳. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗜𝘀 𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗢𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹

Christ did not save souls in isolation.

He founded one Church:

To teach the truth
To administer the sacraments
To guard souls from error

To knowingly reject the Church Christ established is to reject the means He Himself chose for salvation.

𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗔𝗻𝘀𝘄𝗲𝗿

What must I do to be saved?

✔ Believe in Jesus Christ
✔ Repent of all sin
✔ Be baptized
✔ Live in God’s grace
✔ Obey His commandments
✔ Persevere until death
✔ Remain in the Church He founded

This is not “earning” salvation.
This is cooperating with grace.
Salvation is God’s work—but He does not save us without us.

“𝙒𝙤𝙧𝙠 𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙨𝙖𝙡𝙫𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙛𝙚𝙖𝙧 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙧𝙚𝙢𝙗𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜, 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙞𝙩 𝙞𝙨 𝙂𝙤𝙙 𝙬𝙝𝙤 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠𝙚𝙩𝙝 𝙞𝙣 𝙮𝙤𝙪.”
